Role Overview
At DUAL North America, Inc., we are searching for a Senior Staff Accountant to join our accounting team. This is a full‑time, non‑exempt position based in San Diego, CA, reporting to the AVP, Corporate Accounting.
Salary: $75,000–$85,000 annually.
Location:
San Diego, CA – On‑site.
- Own key accounting operations, including general ledger maintenance, financial reporting, and month‑end close activities.
- Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules in accordance with company policies.
- Analyze and reconcile general ledger accounts and investigate variances.
- Ensure accuracy and compliance with GAAP, internal controls, and company accounting policies.
- Oversee billing, revenue, and collections processes to support accurate and timely financial results.
- Support the accounting and reporting of insurance premiums, commissions, premium receivables and related balances.
- Collaborate with internal departments and external partners to resolve accounting issues and support audits.
- Analyze financial data to identify trends, improve reporting accuracy, and enhance operational performance.
- Recommend and implement process improvements to strengthen efficiency, consistency, and overall financial integrity.
- Collaborate across the finance teams and provide guidance to junior accounting staff.
- Perform other projects and duties as needed.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field, or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
- 3+ years of relevant experience, including exposure to insurance accounting (preferred).
- Solid working knowledge of US GAAP, accounting best practices, and internal controls.
- Ability and willingness to learn new software and systems.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with the ability to work independently, identify discrepancies, and resolve proactively.
- Demonstrates high level of accuracy, critical thinking, and professional judgment.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and customer service skills.
- Strong time‑management skills with a proven ability to meet tight deadlines.
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel (experience with lookups and pivot tables required).
- Previous experience with insurance administration systems (particularly IMS) is desirable.
