LHH is partnering with a growing nonprofit in San Diego to hire an Accounting Specialist with a strong focus on Accounts Payable. This role is ideal for an accounting professional who enjoys managing the full AP cycle while supporting additional accounting functions as needed. The ideal candidate will have experience working in a fast-paced environment, possess exceptional attention to detail, and be proficient in Quick Books Desktop.
Responsibilities of this Accounting Specialist job include:
- Perform full-cycle accounts payable processing, including invoice review, coding, entry, and payment preparation
- Match invoices to purchase orders and receiving documentation
- Research and resolve vendor discrepancies, payment issues, and invoice variances
- Reconcile vendor statements and maintain accurate vendor records
- Process check runs, ACH payments, and electronic transactions
- Assist with month-end closing activities, including AP accruals and account reconciliations
- Support bank and credit card reconciliations
- Maintain organized accounting records and supporting documentation
- Communicate with vendors and internal departments regarding payment and invoice inquiries
- Assist department with accounts receivable, administrative accounting tasks, and special projects as needed
- Associate's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- 2+ years of accounting experience with a strong emphasis on accounts payable
- Experience processing high-volume invoices and managing the full AP cycle
- Proficiency with Quick Books Desktop is highly preferred
- Working knowledge of general accounting principles and account reconciliations
- Intermediate Microsoft Excel skills, including formulas and data management
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
