As our firm continues to grow, we are seeking a detail-oriented Part-Time Legal Billing & Accounting Specialist to support our billing and accounting. This position offers flexible hours, a hybrid work arrangement, and the opportunity to transition into a full-time role as the firm's needs continue to expand.
Role DescriptionThis is a part-time hybrid position based in San Diego, California. The Billing & Accounting Specialist will work closely with the firm's billing staff to support monthly invoicing, accounts receivable, accounts payable, and other billing-related functions. The position also provides support to attorneys and staff regarding billing and payment matters.
The position is expected to average approximately 15-20 hours per week, although hours will vary. Candidates should anticipate a greater concentration of work during the first several business days of each month to accommodate the firm's monthly billing cycle. Some in-office presence is required.
Responsibilities- Assist with the preparation, review, and processing of monthly client invoices using Clio
- Assist with the submission of LEDES/e-billing invoices through client billing platforms
- Review billing records for accuracy and help resolve billing discrepancies
- Support accounts receivable activities, including payment tracking and follow-up communications
- Assist with accounts payable functions, including vendor invoice review and payment tracking
- Record client payments and maintain accurate financial records
- Communicate with attorneys, staff, clients, and vendors regarding billing and payment matters
- Assist with billing, accounting, and financial reporting projects as needed
- Maintain strict confidentiality regarding client and firm information
- Experience with legal billing, bookkeeping, accounting, or law firm administration
- Experience with Clio strongly preferred
- Experience with LEDES billing and electronic billing platforms preferred
- Experience with Quick Books or similar accounting software is a plus
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
- Ability to prioritize tasks, work independently, and meet deadlines
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Prior experience in a law firm or professional services environment preferred
- $25-$30 per hour, depending on experience
- Approximately 15-20 hours per week
