Staff Accountant - Construction

Description

Robert Half is partnering with a growing construction company to identify a Staff Accountant for a contract-to-hire opportunity. This role is ideal for an accounting professional with strong general ledger experience who is comfortable working in a project-based construction environment.

Responsibilities:

+ Perform day-to-day general ledger accounting activities

+ Prepare and post journal entries, accruals, and adjusting entries

+ Assist with month-end and year-end close processes

+ Reconcile bank accounts, balance sheet accounts, and general ledger activity

+ Support accounts payable and accounts receivable functions as needed

+ Assist with job costing, project accounting, and cost tracking

+ Review project-related expenses and ensure costs are properly coded

+ Assist with construction billing, change orders, and contract-related accounting

+ Support financial reporting and variance analysis

+ Maintain accurate accounting records and assist with audit requests

+ Assist with special accounting and finance projects as needed

Requirements

Requirements:

+ 2+ years of accounting experience

+ Strong understanding of general ledger accounting and reconciliations

+

Experience with journal entries and month-end close

+ Construction industry experience strongly preferred

+

Experience with job costing or project accounting is a plus

+

Experience with construction accounting software such as Sage 100 Contractor, Sage 300 CRE, Procore, Viewpoint, or similar systems is preferred

+ Strong Excel skills, including Pivot Tables and VLOOKUPs/XLOOKUPs

+ Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills

+ Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is preferred
