Position Overview
As a Tax Manager based out of our San Diego or San Francisco, CA office, you will work alongside an integrated team of seasoned CPAs and industry leaders to lead and supervise all aspects of tax engagements, mentor staff, and build relationships with clients.
Key Responsibilities- Review individual, trust, partnership, and corporate tax returns prepared by tax staff and seniors for accuracy.
- Research and draft memos on complex tax matters.
- Identify and implement tax planning opportunities.
- Handle and resolve tax controversies.
- Oversee complete tax research projects for a variety of clients and industries.
- Manage multiple engagements concurrently with various teams to meet client deadlines efficiently.
- Conduct constructive discussions with team members regarding evaluations and provide counsel.
- Serve as an instructor or discussion leader in professional development programs.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
- CPA license, JD, or Master of Science in Taxation (required).
- At least 5 years of prior experience in the tax department of a public accounting firm, with experience leading multiple engagements and supervising staff.
- Excellent analytical and technical tax skills.
- Exceptional client service and communication skills, with a demonstrated ability to develop and maintain outstanding client relationships.
- Ability to manage multiple engagements and competing projects in a rapidly growing, fast‑paced, interactive, results‑based team environment.
- Strong leadership, training, and mentoring skills, coupled with excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills to represent the firm well to client management.
- Strong organizational, project‑management skills, and meticulous attention to detail.
- Ability to travel as needed.
Base salary range for the San Diego and San Francisco locations: $135,000 - $200,000. In addition to base compensation, Withum offers a competitive benefits package and a bonus program (for eligible roles) based on individual and firm performance.
