Sr. Accountant

Description

Our client, a growing company in the biotech industry, is seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to join its San Diego-based team. This position will play a key role in supporting the company's accounting operations, financial reporting, and month-end close processes. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, analytical, and comfortable working in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

+ Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules

+ Assist with month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes

+ Maintain general ledger accuracy and ensure compliance with accounting policies

+ Prepare financial statements and internal management reports

+ Analyze variances, trends, and financial results to support decision-making

+ Support accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll accounting activities as needed

+ Assist with audit preparation and coordination with external auditors

+ Help maintain internal controls and improve accounting processes

+ Ensure compliance with GAAP and company policies

+ Partner cross-functionally with finance and operational teams

Requirements

+ Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field

+ 3+ years of progressive accounting experience

+ Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting

+

Experience with month-end close, reconciliations, and general ledger accounting

+ Proficiency with ERP systems such as Net Suite, Oracle, SAP, or similar platforms

+ Advanced Microsoft Excel skills

+ Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills

+ Biotech, life sciences, or other regulated industry experience is a plus

+ CPA or CPA-track preferred
