Director of Financial Reporting

Location: Hybrid in San Diego (4 days/week onsite)

Compensation: $150,000 - $195,000 + bonus

A public company is seeking a Director of Financial Reporting to lead external reporting, technical accounting, and financial compliance initiatives. This is a highly visible leadership role partnering closely with senior leadership and cross-functional teams.

• Lead the preparation and review of quarterly and annual financial filings
• Oversee technical accounting research and implementation of new accounting standards
• Partner with external auditors and internal stakeholders to support audit and reporting activities
• Drive compliance with GAAP, SEC regulations, and SOX requirements
• Enhance financial reporting processes, controls, and accounting policies
• Support complex accounting matters and disclosure requirements
• Mentor and develop accounting and finance team members
• Collaborate with finance, audit, legal, and operational teams across the organization

• CPA required
• 8+ years of accounting, financial reporting, or audit experience
• Experience with SEC reporting and public company environments
• Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and internal controls
• Proven ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

• Public accounting foundation
• Experience with technical accounting and complex transactions
• Real estate industry experience
• Leadership experience managing or mentoring accounting professionals
• Exposure to SOX programs and external audit coordination
