County of San Diego Assessor/Recorder/County Clerk AUDIT-APPRAISER II - PROMOTIONAL

This is a promotional opportunity open to current County of San Diego employees who work in the Assessor/Recorder/County Clerk (ARCC) ONLY.

Temporary employees, with the exception of Certified Temporary employees, are not eligible for promotional recruitments.

Audit-Appraisers are certified appraisers who apply accounting and audit procedures and the California Revenue and Taxation Code in the discovery, records audit, and assessment of business and personal property. As an Audit-Appraiser II, you will perform a variety of audit functions, such as: auditing books of accounts, ledgers, financial statements, income tax returns, physical inventory listings, invoices and cost accounting records;

making itemized appraisals of personal property; evaluating property tax statements; and preparing and presenting audit reports and assessment appeals.

Minimum Qualifications

A bachelor's degree from an accredited U.S. college or university, or a certified foreign studies equivalency in accounting, business administration (with a major in accounting or finance), economics or a closely related field, which included course work in elementary accounting, intermediate accounting, advanced accounting, cost accounting, and auditing;

  • One (1) year of substantially progressive and responsible experience as an Audit-Appraiser I in the County of San Diego Assessor's Office;
  • One (1) year of increasingly responsible experience applying accounting/audit procedures and the California Revenue and Taxation Code in the discovery, records audit, and assessment of business personal property.

Note:

Certification as a Public Accountant (CPA) by the California State Board of Accountancy is highly desirable and may be accepted as meeting the education requirement.

Certification/Registration

Must possess a permanent Appraiser's Certificate from the State Board of Equalization, within twelve (12) months from the date of appointment, which must be maintained throughout employment in this class.

Conditions of Employment

As part of the County of San Diego's pre-employment process, prospective candidates will undergo a background check (including fingerprinting) and a pre-employment medical screening prior to beginning County employment. Additional types of background investigations may be conducted based on the job-related activities of the position. Current County employees may be excluded from this process.

Evaluation

Qualified applicants will be placed on a three (3) month employment list based on scores received during the evaluation of information contained in their employment application and supplemental application questionnaire. Please ensure all information is complete and accurate, as the responses you provide on the supplemental application questionnaire will be reviewed using an automated evaluation system. If you are successful in the initial screening process, your application will be reviewed individually to confirm that the information you provided is accurate and qualifying.
