Financial Services Associate Director
We are looking for a Financial Services Associate Director to provide strategic oversight of accounting operations and financial reporting in San Diego, California. This role leads critical close and audit activities, strengthens internal financial processes, and supports sound decision-making through accurate analysis and clear communication. The ideal candidate brings deep technical accounting knowledge, strong leadership skills, and the ability to work effectively with both financial and non-financial stakeholders.
Responsibilities:
- Direct monthly closing activities and ensure financial statements, analyses, and supporting reports are completed accurately and on schedule.
- Improve accounting workflows by identifying opportunities to simplify procedures, strengthen controls, and increase the efficiency of close-related tasks.
- Apply advanced accounting guidance in specialized areas such as long-term debt and lease accounting to maintain compliance with applicable standards.
- Guide annual audit preparation by coordinating schedules, organizing required documentation, and serving as the primary contact for external auditors.
- Lead the development of the annual budget process and help align financial plans with organizational objectives and reporting needs.
- Resolve accounting software and financial system issues by recommending practical solutions that support operational and reporting requirements.
- Maintain the chart of accounts by creating and updating ledger, statistical, and hierarchical account structures as business needs evolve.
- Oversee banking administration, including account maintenance, reconciliations, service utilization, and related financial controls.
- Supervise, coach, and evaluate team members while setting priorities, supporting cross-training, and providing direction on complex accounting matters.
- Build productive relationships with internal and external partners while monitoring departmental spending, supporting compliance efforts, and carrying out additional assigned responsibilities.
