Staff Accountant

Description

Our client in the biotechnology industry is seeking a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join their growing finance team. This role is ideal for an accounting professional who thrives in a fast-paced, innovative environment and is eager to support core accounting operations for a mission-driven organization.

The Staff Accountant will be responsible for assisting with general ledger maintenance, month-end close, account reconciliations, financial reporting, and other day-to-day accounting functions. The ideal candidate will bring strong analytical skills, a solid understanding of accounting principles, and the ability to work cross-functionally in a dynamic and evolving industry.

Key Responsibilities:

+ Prepare and post journal entries, accruals, and account adjustments

+ Perform monthly bank and account reconciliations

+ Assist with month-end and year-end close processes

+ Maintain general ledger accuracy and support financial statement preparation

+ Analyze variances and research discrepancies

+ Support accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll accounting activities as needed

+ Assist with audit preparation and provide documentation for internal and external auditors

+ Ensure compliance with company policies and applicable accounting standards

+ Help improve accounting processes and support system enhancements

+ Partner with finance and operational teams on ad hoc reporting and special projects

Requirements

+ Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field

+ 2+ years of accounting experience, preferably in biotech, life sciences, healthcare, or another regulated industry

+ Strong knowledge of GAAP and general accounting procedures

+

Experience with general ledger, reconciliations, and month-end close

+ Proficiency with ERP systems and Microsoft Excel

+ Strong attention to detail, organization, and problem-solving skills

+ Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment

Preferred Qualifications:

+ Experience working in the biotech, pharmaceutical, or life sciences industry

+ Exposure to inventory, cost accounting, or grant accounting

+ ERP experience such as Net Suite, SAP, or Oracle
