Accounting Clerk

Description

Our client in the education industry is seeking a detail-oriented Accounting Clerk to support daily accounting operations. This role is ideal for an organized professional who enjoys working with financial data, maintaining accurate records, and contributing to a collaborative team environment.

The Accounting Clerk will be responsible for assisting with accounts payable, accounts receivable, data entry, reconciliations, and other transactional accounting functions. The ideal candidate will have strong attention to detail, solid organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven setting.

Key Responsibilities:

+ Process accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions

+ Enter and maintain accurate financial data in accounting systems

+ Reconcile bank statements, vendor accounts, and customer accounts

+ Assist with invoicing, billing, and payment application

+ Review and verify financial documents for accuracy and completeness

+ Support month-end close activities and prepare routine reports

+ Maintain organized accounting files and supporting documentation

+ Respond to vendor and internal inquiries regarding payments and account activity

+ Assist with journal entries and general ledger support as needed

+ Help ensure compliance with company policies and accounting procedures

Requirements

+ Associate's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred

+ 1+ years of accounting, bookkeeping, or clerical accounting experience

+ Knowledge of basic accounting principles and procedures

+

Experience with accounts payable, accounts receivable, and reconciliations

+ Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software

+ Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and organizational skills

+ Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Preferred Qualifications:

+ Experience in education, nonprofit, or public sector environments

+ Familiarity with ERP systems or accounting platforms such as Quick Books, Net Suite, or similar

+ Exposure to month-end close and reporting processes
