Staff Accountant

LHH Recruitment Solutions is partnering with a growing professional services organization in San Diego to identify a Staff Accountant. This is an excellent opportunity for an accounting professional who enjoys working in a collaborative, project-driven environment and wants broad exposure across the accounting function.

Reporting directly to the Controller, the Staff Accountant will play a key role in supporting day-to-day accounting operations, financial reporting, project accounting, and month-end close activities. The ideal candidate will be hands‑on, detail-oriented, and comfortable partnering with leaders and employees across multiple departments.

• Prepare journal entries, accruals, and account reconciliations
• Assist with month-end and year-end close activities
• Support accounts payable and accounts receivable functions
• Assist with payroll processing and related reconciliations
• Maintain accurate financial records and supporting documentation
• Perform budget-to-actual analysis and financial reporting
• Support project accounting and job costing activities
• Collaborate with project managers and operational teams to ensure accurate project financial tracking
• Assist with process improvement and accounting system enhancement initiatives
• Provide ad hoc reporting and analysis as needed

• 3+ years of accounting experience
• Some Education preferred, but open to experience
• Experience with project-based accounting, job costing, project financial tracking or relatable experience within a similar space
• Experience with month-end close, journal entries, accruals, and account reconciliations
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment

• Experience with in a professional services environment
• Background in construction, engineering, architecture, design services, consulting, or other project-based organizations
• Exposure to payroll systems and expense management tools
• Experience supporting technology implementations or process improvement initiatives
