Position Summary

The College of Sciences is seeking a collaborative, solutions-oriented College Facilities Operations Analyst to serve as the primary college-side liaison for facilities planning, space utilization, and operational coordination across eight academic departments and a wide range of instructional and research laboratory environments. This position owns the intake, prioritization, and follow-through of College facilities needs, working in close partnership with central campus units to ensure spaces effectively support the College’s academic, research, and administrative mission

Key Responsibilities
  • Serve as the primary college-side point of contact for facilities-related needs (particularly laboratories) across all departments in the College of Sciences
  • Own the intake, prioritization, coordination, and follow-through of facilities requests and improvement initiatives
  • Coordinate with SDSU Facilities Services, Environmental Health & Safety, and Project Management to support facilities operations and projects
  • Support space planning and utilization efforts for instructional, research, and office environments
  • Track facilities-related projects, work orders, and budgets; communicate status and impacts to stakeholders
  • Provide lead work direction to facilities support staff and support compliance with university policies and safety standards

Position Information
  • This is a full-time (1.0 time-base), benefits eligible, permanent/probationary position.
  • This position is designated as exempt under FLSA and is not eligible for overtime compensation.
  • Standard SDSU work hours are Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., but may vary based on operational needs.
  • The individual hired into this role will work on campus at SDSU in San Diego.
Department Summary

The College of Sciences is a diverse academic institution encompassing eight academic departments, eight joint doctoral programs, and a multitude of academic program areas. Additionally, it houses the California State University Program, the Education and Research in Biotechnology program, the Coastal and Marine Institute, the Center for Research in Mathematics and Science Education, the Molecular Biology Institute, and off-campus sites including the San Diego State University Field Stations, the Mt.

Laguna Observatory, and the Coastal and Marine Institute Laboratory. Within its ranks, the College boasts a dedicated faculty comprising over 260 full and part-time members, along with a support staff of 80 clerical and technical employees. Their interests span a wide spectrum, encompassing both teaching and research.

Leading the College is the Dean, who is assisted by two Associate Deans, an Assistant Dean of Student Affairs, a Resource Manager, and administrative support personnel. The Dean's Office takes responsibility for overseeing all facets of the College's operations, including the initiation, execution, and ongoing support of instructional and research initiatives, as well as planning for the College's future.

Education and Experience

Entry to this classification requires general knowledge and skills in the applicable administrative and/or program field with a foundational knowledge of public administration principles, practices, and methods. This foundation would normally be obtained through a bachelor's degree and/or equivalent training and administrative work experience involving study, analysis, and/or evaluation leading to the development or improvement of administrative policies, procedures, practices, or programs.
