Position Summary
Graduate Program Coordinator
The School of Public Health at San Diego State University is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Graduate Program Coordinator to join our team. This position offers an exciting opportunity to provide administrative coordination and support for graduate admissions, enrollment management, student services, and recruitment activities that contribute directly to student success and program operations.
Key Responsibilities- Administration and Student Support
:
Act as the primary contact for prospective students, applicants, current students, faculty, and campus offices; coordinate graduate admissions processes through SOPHAS and related systems; maintain student records and databases; monitor student progress; prepare reports and statistical summaries; interpret university and program policies; and support day-to-day administrative operations. - Campus Events and Recruitment Support
:
Coordinate and provide logistical support for graduate student orientation programs, guest speaker events, and School-sponsored activities; represent the School of Public Health at graduate recruitment events and professional conferences and support outreach and recruitment efforts to promote enrollment and student engagement. - Adjunct Appointment Support
:
Provide administrative support for adjunct faculty appointment processes, maintain appointment records, and ensure required documentation is completed accurately and in a timely manner.
- This is a full-time (1.0 time-base), benefits eligible, permanent/probationary position.
- This position is designated non-exempt under FLSA and is eligible for overtime compensation.
- Standard SDSU work hours are Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., but may vary based on operational needs.
- This position is approved for partial telecommuting with on-site work in San Diego after the probationary period.
The SDSU School of Public Health is a top 15 public school of public health in the nation and is ranked 23rd among all schools and programs of public health (U.S. News and World Report, 2019 edition). The school has undergraduate, graduate and doctoral programs within five established divisions. The doctoral programs are offered jointly with the University of California, San Diego.
Student enrollment exceeds 900 students across all programs. The School has strong community partnerships, which enable it to provide practical experience to students.
Entry to this classification requires a fully functional knowledge of and skill in standard office procedures and practices, as well as an ability to understand and operate in a variety of organizational structures. Additionally, incumbents are expected to have a thorough knowledge of English grammar, spelling, and punctuation and be able to clearly communicate orally and in writing. Some positions may require a knowledge of business mathematics beyond basic arithmetic.
The ability to use and quickly learn new office support technology systems and software packages is also a prerequisite.
These qualifications would normally be obtained through a high school program, technical/vocational program, or their equivalents combined with several years of related office work experience.
Key Qualifications- Experience in higher education, particularly in graduate-level student services, admissions, or enrollment management.
- Experience supporting diverse populations and providing inclusive, customer-focused service.
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

Compensation
:
- Initial step placement is not expected to exceed Step 1 ($4,367) for highly qualified candidates.
- CSU Classification Salary Range: $4,367 – $6,362 per month (Step 1 – Step 20).
- Future increases, including step advancements, are subject to contract negotiations.
