Responsible for greeting customers politely and assisting and/or directing them to the proper resources. Provides directions and appropriate information, as requested. Courteously and professionally answers and screens incoming telephone calls from the public, other Area offices, and allied agencies. Responsible for taking clear, concise, and pertinent information from callers in order to direct calls to the proper Division office personnel and/or provide information and/or assistance using available resources.
Ensures individuals entering the building sign in and provides a visitor pass; contacts the appropriate section within Division to assist the customer; (i.e., Motor Carrier Unit, Backgrounds Unit, Investigative Services Unit, etc.). Works with the Special Services Unit for citation sign-offs, CHP 180, Vehicle Reports, for stolen/recovery, impounded or stored vehicles, and public traffic collision requests. Responsible for the sale and verification of all CHP 555, Traffic Crash Report, from/for California San Diego Gas & Electric, Lexus Nexis, and/or other allied agencies.
Assists the public with traffic collision requests, writes CHP 251, Counter Receipts, for payments with cash, check, or CHP 365N, Credit Card Payment, form when paid with a credit or debit card.

- The position(s) require(s) the ability to type at a minimum speed as designated on the Class Specifications (link available in the additional documentation section). You must obtain a valid typing certificate confirming your ability to meet the minimum typing speed, prior to being hired.
