SAIC's Business Management organization is seeking an experienced and highly adaptable Contracts Principal to support its Navy Business Group (BG). The position requires knowledge of the government contracts field and will conduct the preparation, negotiation, acceptance, and management of government contracts to provide for proper contract acquisition and fulfillment in accordance with company policies, legal requirements, and customer specifications. This individual will serve as a strategic partner to key stakeholders throughout the capture, proposal, and contract execution phases.
This role requires extensive contracting knowledge of and experience in the federal government. This position requires the ability to multi-task and work several projects concurrently in a fast-paced environment while meeting critical internal and external deadlines. The individual shall be a confident, organized and detail-oriented team player with the ability to foster and build collaborative business relationships.
Location note: This position is located in San Diego, CA. Candidates must be able to go into the office 2-3 days a week. Will consider candidates that sit within the Pacific Time Zone and are able to travel to San Diego. Candidates must possess a Secret clearance and the ability to obtain a Top Secret SCI clearance.
Responsibilities- Serve as strategic interface to customer contacts (Contracting Officers and acquisition specialists), including lead negotiator for proposals supported.
- Educate internal and external partners on contracting strategies, marketplace dynamics and competitive strategies; share insights to elevate team thinking and communicate trade-off considerations effectively.
- Function effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment.
- Manage multiple projects and tasks simultaneously.
- Demonstrate strong interpersonal, written and oral communication skills.
- Review contractual documents to ensure adherence to company policy, government specifications and requirements, and conformance to master agreements.
- Advise management of contractual rights and obligations and provide interpretation of terms and conditions. Represent the organization as a prime contact on contracts or projects.
- Interact with senior internal and external personnel on significant matters often requiring coordination between organizations.
- Develop solutions to complex problems, requiring ingenuity and innovation.
- Ensure solutions are consistent with organizational objectives.
- Support commercial work as well as complex efforts including Firm Fixed Price (FFP) defined delivery efforts.
- Proposal preparation; negotiation and administration of various contracts including Cost Plus Fixed Fee (CPFF), Cost Reimbursable (CR), Time and Materials (T&M), Firm Fixed Price (FFP) and multiple IDIQ/Task Order contracts. Development; preparation, negotiation, and administration of teaming agreements and proprietary information agreements; data collection for regulatory reporting; and management of OCI Plans.
- Experience with developing acquisition strategies for emerging technology (e.g., AI, cloud computing) including identifying and assessing new technology opportunities, understanding market trends and client landscapes, creating comprehensive acquisition plans, and ensuring alignment with organizational goals and regulatory requirements.
- Proven track record navigating challenges of emerging technologies (risk management, rapid innovation cycles, evolving standards).
- Experience with as-a-service models (e.g., Software-as-a-Service, Infrastructure-as-a-Service, Platform-as-a-Service).
- Strong understanding of methods to mitigate Organizational Conflicts of Interest.
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration or related field and 10 years of experience, or Master’s degree with 8 years of experience.
