Amazon Web Services (AWS) continues to expand its global presence and customer‑facing services and we are looking for a highly motivated Export Compliance Manager to drive export controls implementations.

The successful candidate is an innovative compliance professional experienced in integrating compliance requirements within the business, building export control compliance programs, and has strong written and verbal communication skills. The role will help drive and scale the AI license compliance controls program through innovative process development, engaging cross‑functional teams spanning a broad range of stakeholders, including development teams and senior leadership.

The candidate will have strong program/project management skills, a passion for new challenges, be creative, self‑directed, and a great team player. In this role, you will drive continuous process improvement and collaborate effectively to solve problems and develop requirements for new compliance solutions.

You will need to be the kind of leader who can build, communicate clearly, and have a consistent track record of delivery. You will need to be able to handle multiple competing priorities in a fast‑paced environment and help create simple solutions to meet your program goals.

Key Job Responsibilities
  • Provide strategic expertise on U.S. and global export regulations and advise internal business customers on compliance program initiatives.
  • Develop and implement strategic compliance processes and solutions to comply with licensing requirements and drive continuous improvements.
  • Monitor regulatory changes.
  • Create metrics for management reporting.
  • Drive process improvement and compliance implementation projects.
  • Own leadership communications to stakeholder teams and executive leadership.
  • Innovate control mechanisms to best meet business goals and compliance requirements.
A Day in the Life

You will act as a compliance leader who can prioritize well, communicate clearly, and have a consistent track record of delivery. You can handle multiple competing priorities in a fast‑paced environment and help create simple solutions to meet your program goals. You can make strategic decisions to quickly handle emerging issues while working toward long‑term solutions.

Basic Qualifications
  • Experience working effectively across cross‑functional teams and partnering well with people at all levels within an organization.
  • Bachelor's degree in International Trade, Business, Engineering, or related field.
  • 5+ years of progressive experience in export controls, trade compliance, or international regulatory affairs.
  • Working knowledge of U.S. export control regulations (EAR and ITAR).
  • Experience managing export authorizations.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working with large global teams.
  • Advanced degree in International Trade, Law, or related field.
  • 7+ years of export control experience in technology or manufacturing industry.
  • Certified Export Compliance Professional (CXCP) or similar certification.
  • Experience with cloud computing, AI/ML, quantum computing, semiconductors, or other emerging technologies.
  • Knowledge of international export control regimes (e.g., Wassenaar Arrangement).
  • Experience with sanctions programs (OFAC, EU, UN).
  • Experience with trade compliance automation tools and systems.
