Business Management, Business Administration
This isn't your average hotel sales role. We're hiring a Director of Sales for a one-of-a-kind boutique property in the Southern California desert — a place with genuine energy, a fiercely loyal guest base, and a reputation that precedes itself. The property is part of a distinctive lifestyle brand and is backed by a seasoned hospitality management company with deep roots across both independent and branded hotels nationwide.
From the management company - Our management company has built something rare in this industry: a culture where people actually want to show up. We run on high standards and real support — giving our teams the tools, trust, and room to grow. If you take hospitality seriously and want to work somewhere that takes you just as seriously, this is the right fit.
WhatYou'll Be Responsible For
- Foster a collaborative, high-performing team culture through transparent communication and hands‑on leadership.
- Guide sales staff on rate strategy and pricing recommendations; oversee approval of corporate negotiated rates.
- Build a thorough understanding of property operations across rooms, F&B, and guest services to better support sales efforts.
- Champion adherence to all sales policies, procedures, and brand standards across the team.
- Cultivate lasting client relationships by delivering consistent, high-quality service at every touchpoint.
- Lead RFP season efforts in partnership with the General Manager and regional and national sales leadership.
- Oversee the full sales cycle — from initial outreach through contract close — ensuring all activity is properly tracked and documented.
- Grow the hotel's revenue base by actively prospecting new accounts and re‑engaging existing clients through calls, site tours, and in‑person meetings.
- Stay ahead of market shifts by continuously monitoring trends, demand signals, and competitive positioning.
- Review and interpret revenue and sales performance data to uncover opportunities; maintain rate discipline across all channels in alignment with inventory and demand conditions.
- Contribute to revenue and expense forecasting processes.
- Perform regular competitive set analysis to validate rate positioning and ensure the property's offerings remain compelling in the market.
- Lead weekly and monthly STAR/share reporting and work with regional leadership to adjust strategy as needed.
- Evaluate and roll out new sales initiatives; measure effectiveness and report on ROI.
- Oversee all marketing and promotional activity — digital, print, direct mail, and email — while tracking spend and returns.
- Own the development of the annual sales and marketing plan and budget.
- Establish clear individual and team performance targets across weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual horizons.
- Uphold Prime Time Selling hour expectations.
- Take on additional responsibilities as the role requires.
- Bachelor's degree in Hotel Administration, Business, Marketing, or a related field required.
- At least 5 years of progressive hotel sales experience, including direct leadership responsibilities.
- Demonstrated ability to analyze revenue data and translate insights into actionable sales strategy.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong relationship-builder with the ability to influence across teams and client organizations.
- Solid grasp of revenue management concepts and how they intersect with sales strategy.
- Comfortable working in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- Willingness and ability to travel as business needs arise.
- Availability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
