Powers Plumbing & Heating is looking for an experienced, organized, and hands-on Operations & Parts Manager to join our San Diego team.
This is a key leadership position responsible for helping manage the day-to-day operations of our residential and commercial service plumbing company. The Operations & Parts Manager will work directly with ownership, office staff, field technicians, customers, vendors, and suppliers to keep jobs moving efficiently, maintain proper inventory and material availability, support sales progression, and help improve overall company performance and profitability.
We are looking for someone who takes ownership, solves problems, follows through, and understands that successful operations require a balance of customer service, technician support, sales performance, efficiency, and profitability.
Responsibilities- Manage Daily Operations – Help oversee day-to-day service operations and ensure technicians, office staff, and management are communicating effectively and company priorities are being completed.
- Parts & Material Management – Order, receive, organize, and track plumbing parts, materials, equipment, and specialty items required for service and installation work.
- Inventory Control – Maintain appropriate inventory levels, monitor usage, reduce unnecessary purchases and waste, and ensure commonly used materials are available when technicians need them.
- Vendor Management – Maintain relationships with supply houses and vendors, obtain pricing, source materials, coordinate deliveries, and help negotiate competitive pricing.
- Support Field Technicians – Assist technicians with locating materials, equipment, technical information, job documentation, and other resources necessary to complete jobs efficiently.
- Sales Development & Revenue Growth – Utilize prior experience and knowledge of the service sales process to help technicians and office staff improve sales performance and maximize opportunities on each service call. Assist with developing and implementing effective sales processes, presenting customers with appropriate repair and replacement options, following up on unsold estimates, and identifying additional legitimate service opportunities based on customer needs.
- Improve Sales Performance – Work with technicians and management to improve conversion rates, average ticket, jobs sold per call, and overall revenue while maintaining Powers Plumbing's commitment to honest, customer-focused service.
- Sales Progression & Follow-Up – Track open estimates and sales opportunities from initial customer interaction through approval, scheduling, and completion. Follow up on outstanding estimates and help ensure qualified opportunities do not fall through the cracks.
- Job Coordination – Coordinate service and installation projects, including material ordering, equipment scheduling, permits when applicable, customer communication, and coordination between the office and field.
- Scheduling & Dispatch Support – Work with office staff and technicians to maintain efficient scheduling, respond to changes throughout the day, and maximize productive technician time.
- Service Titan Management – Utilize Service Titan to monitor jobs, estimates, invoices, customer information, technician activity, sales opportunities, materials, job progress, and operational performance.
- Job Cost & Profitability Management – Monitor labor, materials, equipment, purchasing, and other job-related costs and identify opportunities to improve efficiency and profitability.
- Customer Service & Problem Resolution – Assist with escalated customer concerns, scheduling issues, job questions, and other situations requiring management involvement.
- Quality Control & Accountability – Help ensure jobs are properly documented, materials are accounted for, work is completed according to company standards, and outstanding items are followed through to completion.
- Fleet & Equipment Coordination – Help monitor company vehicles, tools, equipment, maintenance needs, and repairs to keep field personnel operational.
