Job Summary

The Vice President, Corporate Development, China will identify, negotiate, and complete strategic partnerships with pharmaceutical companies in China to expand the commercial potential of HUYABIO's product portfolio. The VP oversees the operation of HUYABIO’s regional offices in China such that their activities support the overall business needs of HUYABIO by enabling and accelerating the global co-development of novel biopharmaceutical product opportunities.

The VP will develop and implement business plans, manage complex issues within functional areas of expertise, oversee regional office business planning and goal setting, and contribute to the corporate business strategy.

This is an office-based position that works in a cross-functional and dynamic environment. Clear, timely, professional, and effective communication with all HUYABIO functional areas and global office sites is essential.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities
  • Expand business in China by identifying target China Pharma companies, identifying key resources within targets, establishing interest, and supporting scouting team to identify target compounds, and follow-up on potential in-licensing opportunities.
  • Identify and pursue programs to maximize revenue from sources within China, including new sources of funds from government programs.
  • Manage regional office performance by establishing team goals and milestones, evaluating performance, planning resource needs, maintaining organizational charts, conducting staff meetings, and integrating regional office resources with business development activities.
  • Recruit and retain talented resources in China that will enable HUYABIO to achieve its business objectives.
  • Provide commercial, financial, cost and timeline analyses to help prioritize licensing opportunities and structure term sheets.
  • Coordinate HUYABIO Global Leadership Management (GLM) Conference and China Advisory Board (CAB) meeting in China.
  • Interact with scientific resources in China and US to identify compounds of interest for China Pharma partners.
  • Prepare business development and marketing presentations for use in China to build relationships within the pharmaceutical industry.
  • Continuously strengthen HUYABIO’s networks in China by collecting industrial business intelligence, such as new government policies, new drug development, new technology, and other information regarding the competitive landscape.
  • Track regional office performance relative to compounds identified, agreements signed, and other measures as identified.
  • Support negotiation of “first look,” exclusive evaluation, and in-licensing rights.
  • Interact with Senior Scientific Advisors in China to identify future markets and licensing partners.
