Summary
Our North County San Diego-based client is in immediate need of a qualified and dedicated Project Manager (PM) with extensive experience in the Life Sciences construction sector. Our client is a highly successful General Contractor known for its excellent service in Commercial Construction, Life Sciences, Mission Critical, Higher Education, and more. Ideal candidates are organized, self-motivated, and strong communicators.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Support existing team with necessary tasks
- Prepare project schedules
- Review project drawings and specifications
- Coordinate with the project development team on architecture, interior design, and construction specifications
- Develop construction estimates
- Review budgets and meet financial targets
- Conduct project kick-off meetings with VP of Construction and project team
- Coordinate materials procurement through suppliers
- Monitor expenditures, identify variances, and implement corrective actions
- Ensure projects are completed on time and within scope
- Make decisions regarding project cost, schedule, methods, and performance
- Oversee contract administration, job cost tracking, billing, change orders, claims, and project closeout
- Participate in project management meetings to review performance
Qualifications & Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Building Construction Management
- Minimum 10 years of experience managing commercial construction projects
- Proven experience as a Project Manager in the Life Sciences sector
- Experience managing 4-5 projects simultaneously, ranging from $4.5M to $20M
- Experience in technology, biotech, or healthcare projects
- Knowledge of codes and general construction methods
- Ability to read and interpret contracts
- Experience in writing detailed scopes of work
- Proficiency in Excel, Word, and estimating software
- Ability to collaborate with accounting to produce accurate reports
- Excellent management, communication, and negotiation skills
- Ability to work independently and efficiently in a fast-paced environment
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Effective communication and instruction skills
- Capable of managing multiple priorities and adapting to complex situations
