Position

Summary

The Project Engineer will support project management teams in all phases of construction projects, from estimating through completion. The role requires a blend of technical knowledge, communication skills, and problem‑solving abilities to ensure the successful execution of the project. The Project Engineer will be responsible for project bid coordination, project setup and kick‑off through Procore, managing documentation, supporting field operations, and ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Project Support:
    Assist Project Managers with day‑to‑day management of construction projects, ensuring timely and cost‑effective completion.
  • Documentation Management:
    Maintain project files, including contracts, change orders, RFIs (Requests for Information), submittals, and as‑built drawings.
  • Coordination with Subcontractors:
    Support Superintendents and Project Managers in the coordination of subcontractors’ work, obtaining work plans, reviewing submittals, creating detailed exhibits for RFIs, and ensuring schedules, quality standards, and safety protocols are adhered to.
  • Quality Control:
    Ensure that the project is being built according to plans, specifications, and applicable building codes. Perform inspections and assist in identifying and resolving quality issues.
  • Safety Compliance:
    Monitor safety practices and ensure compliance with OSHA regulations and company safety policies on site.
  • Material Procurement:
    Assist with ensuring subcontractors are ordering materials, tracking deliveries, and maintaining inventory to ensure the timely availability of materials.
  • Field Support:
    Conduct regular site visits (50-75% of time) to monitor construction progress, resolve issues, and facilitate communication between field personnel, subcontractors, and project managers.
  • Change Order Management:
    Support the preparation and processing of change orders by tracking project scope changes and documenting variations from the original contract.
  • Reporting:
    Assist in preparing progress reports, cost estimates, and schedules to update clients, senior leadership, and project stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with Teams:
    Work closely with architects, engineers, subcontractors, and other project team members to address project challenges and keep the project moving forward.
Qualifications
  • Education:

    Bachelor’s degree in construction management, Civil Engineering, Architecture, or a related field (ideal, not required).
  • Experience:

    2-3 years of Project Engineer experience, preferably with a general contractor firm.
  • Technical

    Skills:

    Proficiency in construction software (e.g., Procore, Bluebeam, Autodesk), Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), and basic knowledge of scheduling software (e.g., MS Project, Primavera).
  • Knowledge of Construction Processes:
    Understanding construction methods, codes, materials, and quality assurance processes.
  • Communication:
    Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with project teams, clients, and subcontractors.
  • Problem‑Solving:
    Ability to identify issues, think critically, and provide practical solutions to project challenges.
  • Attention to Detail: A keen eye for detail and organization to manage complex project documentation and track project milestones.
  • Safety Consciousness: A commitment to upholding safety standards and ensuring safe working conditions on the job site.

Schedule:

Mon – Fri. (Field and Onsite)
