The Safety Compliance Manager leads and coordinates safety initiatives that support the AGC San Diego Chapter and its member contractors. This role serves as a key liaison between AGC San Diego and AGC of America on safety matters while promoting best practices that improve jobsite safety, regulatory compliance, and workforce education across the construction industry.

The Safety Compliance Manager oversees safety committee operations, manages industry safety programs and competitions, supports safety communications, and collaborates with the AGC San Diego Safety Training Center to ensure training programs reflect current industry and regulatory needs.

This position requires a collaborative leader who is passionate about construction safety and committed to elevating safety culture throughout the industry.

This role is designed for a highly experienced safety professional who has spent years in the field and wants to bring that knowledge into a role focused on mentorship, education, and industry impact. The Safety Compliance Manager will work directly with contractors, apprentices, and safety professionals to strengthen safety culture across the region.

AGC San Diego serves a diverse construction workforce. Candidates with bilingual (English/Spanish) communication skills are strongly encouraged to apply, particularly those interested in helping expand Spanish-language safety training and supporting contractors with multilingual jobsite safety programs.

Specific Duties :

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

Safety Program Leadership
  • Promote a strong culture of safety across the AGC San Diego membership.
  • Serve as a leader and role model for construction safety excellence.
  • Assist in identifying emerging safety trends, regulatory updates, and industry needs affecting AGC members.
  • Provide safety audits of AGC San Diego headquarters and training center.
  • Any and all other duties as assigned
AGC Safety Committee Oversight
  • Oversee and coordinate the monthly AGC San Diego Safety Committee meetings.
  • Develop meeting agendas and facilitate meaningful industry discussion on safety challenges and solutions.
  • Coordinate with industry professionals on speakers and demonstrations for the meeting.
  • Engage safety professionals from AGC member companies to participate in committee initiatives.
Industry Safety Communications
  • With the assistance of the Director of Workforce Development, develop weekly safety content for AGC’s newsletter, the Monday Morning Quarterback (MMQB), and any related social media or newsletter updates.
  • Provide safety updates, regulatory alerts, best practices, and safety resources relevant to AGC members.
  • Develop and host a bi-weekly safety update for the AGC San Diego podcast focused on industry safety trends, regulatory updates, contractor best practices, and safety leadership discussions.
  • Develop and coordinate annual safety events relevant to the construction industry including safety forums, workshops, and industry awareness initiatives.
  • Lead planning and execution of the Annual AGC Safety Summit / Safety Day, designed to promote safety awareness and provide hands‑on learning opportunities for contractors and safety professionals.
Industry Events & Programs
  • Develop and coordinate annual safety events relevant to the construction industry including safety forums, workshops, and industry awareness initiatives.
  • Lead planning and execution of the Annual AGC Safety Summit / Safety Day, designed to promote safety awareness and provide hands‑on learning opportunities for contractors and safety professionals.
  • Coordinate Safety Summit/Safety Day programming that may include safety stand‑down events, equipment demonstrations, federal contractor safety workshops, fall protection rescue demonstrations, and emerging technology demonstrations for construction safety.
