We are seeking an experienced General Superintendent to lead heavy civil construction operations in the San Diego region. This role provides oversight across multiple projects and supervises division superintendents, ensuring work is executed safely, on schedule, and within budget.
This is a strong opportunity for a senior-level field leader looking to take ownership of large-scale operations and drive performance across multiple teams.
Responsibilities- Provide leadership and oversight to division superintendents and field teams
- Deliver projects on time and within budget
- Review and approve construction methods, sequencing, and execution plans
- Coordinate manpower, equipment, subcontractors, and suppliers
- Partner with Project Managers on preconstruction planning and execution
- Maintain full understanding of project scope, plans, and specifications
- Supervise foremen and field operations across multiple projects
- Manage and update project schedules and sequencing
- Lead coordination with owners, including weekly meetings
- Oversee subcontractor scope alignment, inclusions, and exclusions
- Ensure job site safety compliance and maintain union relationships
- Monitor job costs, productivity, and budget performance
- Oversee timekeeping, extra work tracking, and cost efficiency
- Ensure project closeout, punch list completion, and turnover
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field (or equivalent experience)
- 10+ years of heavy civil construction experience
- Strong background in field operations and construction execution
- Experience managing multiple superintendents and large-scale projects
- Solid understanding of construction methods, sequencing, and scheduling
- Experience working in union environments
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
- Ability to manage high-pressure environments and deadlines
- Landscape construction experience is a plus
- Salary: $150K – $210K DOE
