Operations Management, Construction Manager/ Foreman
Work Model: In-office preferred with flexibility as project needs allow
The OpportunityFirst Mark Contracting is seeking an emerging and driven Project Manager to join a growing San Diego-based contractor known for complex, technical construction across healthcare, higher education, military, and private-sector markets. This is a strong opportunity for someone ready to move beyond the passenger seat, take ownership of meaningful projects, and be rewarded for strong execution, client service, and profitable project delivery.
WhatYou’ll Do
- Manage assigned construction projects from handoff through closeout
- Own project budgets, schedules, documentation, subcontractor coordination, and client communication
- Review drawings, identify risks or gaps, and proactively resolve issues before they impact the field
- Coordinate MEP-heavy scopes and complex project requirements
- Partner closely with superintendents, subcontractors, estimators, and the Director of Construction
- Serve as a trusted client-facing representative for assigned projects
- Support RFIs, submittals, change management, buyout, scheduling, and closeout
- Maintain accountability for project profitability, quality, schedule, and client satisfaction
- 3–5+ years of commercial construction experience with increasing project management responsibility
- Experience managing or supporting project budgets, schedules, subcontractors, and client communication
- Exposure to MEP-heavy scopes; mechanical, electrical, and plumbing coordination experience is highly valued
- Ability to read drawings, identify constructability concerns, and surface project risks early
- Experience in commercial construction, occupied renovation, healthcare, higher education, federal/military, lab, structural renovation, seismic retrofit, technical TI, or similarly complex work
- Experience with Procore or a comparable project management platform
- Scheduling experience; P6 is a plus but not required
- Four-year degree preferred in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, Business, or a related field
- Strong communication, organization, and client-facing skills
- Entrepreneurial mindset with comfort tying a meaningful portion of earnings to project performance
First Mark has built its reputation by pursuing the kind of work many contractors avoid: occupied hospitals, research laboratories, active university facilities, military design-build projects, structural renovations, seismic retrofits, and complex second-generation renovations where planning, coordination, and problem-solving matter.
This is not a traditional Project Manager role inside a large, layered construction company. First Mark is lean, collaborative, and growing, which means strong performers gain visibility quickly and have a direct impact on the company’s reputation, client relationships, and future growth. For someone coming from a larger firm who wants more ownership, autonomy, technical variety, and earning potential, this is a compelling next step.
- Project-based performance incentive structure with realistic total compensation potential of approximately $,000+
- 100% company-paid medical and dental
- 401(k) with 4% company match
- Vehicle allowance
- Laptop and cell phone
- Paid holidays
- Professional development and continuing education support
