We re partnering with a well-established, family-owned General Contractor with a strong reputation for delivering high-quality public works and commercial construction projects throughout San Diego County. Their portfolio includes fire stations, civic buildings, libraries, community centers, public safety facilities, and other projects that make a lasting impact on local communities.
About the RoleWe are seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead commercial and public works construction projects from preconstruction through closeout. This role is ideal for a construction professional who enjoys leading teams, building client relationships, managing project financials, and delivering successful projects from start to finish.
The ideal candidate has experience working for a commercial General Contractor and is comfortable managing multiple projects while collaborating with owners, architects, consultants, subcontractors, and field teams.
Responsibilities- Lead multiple commercial and public works construction projects simultaneously.
- Develop and manage project budgets, schedules, and financial forecasts.
- Negotiate subcontract agreements and oversee project buyout.
- Manage RFIs, submittals, change orders, and owner communications.
- Lead project meetings and coordinate internal and external project teams.
- Partner with Superintendents to ensure successful field execution.
- Mentor Project Engineers and Assistant Project Managers.
- Identify project risks and develop proactive solutions.
- Maintain strong client relationships while delivering projects safely, on schedule, and within budget.
- 5+ years of Project Management experience with a commercial General Contractor.
- Public works construction experience strongly preferred.
- Experience with Design-Build and/or CMAR projects is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of project budgeting, forecasting, contract administration, and scheduling.
- Experience managing multiple commercial construction projects simultaneously.
- Proficiency with Procore, Bluebeam, Microsoft Office, and construction scheduling software.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and relationship management skills.
