Freight Construction Management Field Services Representative

Key Responsibilities
  • Read and interpret construction drawings and specifications, and identify discrepancies or conflicts within the documents
  • Maintain accurate daily records of the contractor's daily activities and the work performed, and of the labor, equipment and materials used
  • Assist field inspections and serve as the on‑site construction observer for assigned projects
  • Complete documentation including daily reports, project photographs, etc.
  • Assist with material submittals, field requests‑for‑information, and monthly construction pay application/quantity reviews, along with other related general construction‑management resolutions
  • Review construction materials for contract compliance
  • Track quantities and develop pay estimates for acceptance
  • Attend and/or chair construction progress meetings
  • Conduct observations of the installation and acceptance testing of completed equipment and systems
  • Coordinate with clients/owners, project team, other consultants, and others involved with the project
  • Identify nonconforming work, develop project punchlists and maintain until corrected
  • Develop record documentation for engineer review/acceptance
  • Assist with project audit/closeout
  • Work under general supervision of a more‑senior Resident Project Representative or Design Project Manager
  • Supervise and direct the activities of junior Resident Project Representatives and Construction Inspectors, testing services and subconsultants
  • Perform other duties as needed
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management or rail engineering related field
  • Engineer in Training (EIT) certification or Professional Engineer (PE) license
  • Previous construction experience with a consulting firm
  • Ability to interpret construction schedules
  • Ability to problem‑solve and provide possible solutions to the engineer
  • Work hours other than typical 8 to 5 may be applicable and may include weekends and/or night shifts
  • Must have a valid Driver's License and ability to operate a vehicle day or night shifts
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Technology, or combination of education and relevant experience
  • Demonstrated construction experience on multidisciplinary projects
  • Fundamental understanding of contracts and familiarity with codes and laws governing construction
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications and identify discrepancies or conflicts within documents
  • Team‑oriented, able to work in a collaborative environment
  • Computer literate, experience with Microsoft Office, Primavera, or related construction packages
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee‑owned culture is a must

Expected compensation range: $73,000 – $104,000 (depending on skills, experience, education and geographic location)
