The Assistant Project Manager is a full-time, on-site role based in San Diego, CA, supporting the planning and execution of construction projects from pre-construction through closeout. This position assists the Project Manager with coordinating schedules, budgets, subcontractors, and materials to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery. Day-to-day responsibilities include tracking submittals and RFIs, maintaining project documentation, and supporting quality and safety compliance on job sites.
The Assistant Project Manager collaborates with internal teams, clients, and vendors to resolve issues, manage logistics, and keep stakeholders informed of project status. This role also helps monitor progress against milestones and contributes to process improvements that enhance project performance.
- Candidates should possess skills in Project Management and Inspection to support planning, coordination, and quality control across all phases of construction.
- Candidates should possess skills in Expeditor and Expediting to manage submittals, material orders, and approvals, ensuring timely delivery to the job site.
- Candidates should possess skills in Logistics Management to coordinate equipment, materials, and subcontractor activities for efficient on-site operations.
- Relevant experience in commercial or civil construction, preferably with a general contractor or construction management firm.
- Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency with construction management software, project scheduling tools, and standard office applications.
- Knowledge of construction documents, building codes, and safety regulations; OSHA awareness or certification is beneficial.
- Associate or bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
