Job Title
Safety Inspector
DutiesYou will perform periodic onsite inspections and surveys for operations and evolutions; inspections industrial and construction projects to determine compliance with applicable occupational safety standards.
You will create and maintain a contractor safety evaluation data base to document and evaluate contractor's safety program through planned and random inspections on operations.
You will conduct safety and occupational health evaluation of all construction and service contracts, for the purpose of identifying hazards, evaluating safety performance, and measuring the effectiveness of compliance.
You will review contractor's safety plans and activity hazard analysis for completeness and accuracy.
You will be responsible for instructing 30 hour Occupational Safety and Health Administration Construction Industry and General Industry and 30 hour Army Corps of Engineers Safety and Health Requirements Manual, EM-385-1-1.
You will assist in the development, selection, and preparation of promotional and educational material for distribution and dissemination.
You will prepare and deliver safety education training programs consistent with the needs identified through established requirements, inspections and evaluations, including, but not limited to CPR, First Aid, and accident prevention.
You will be responsible for developing safety programs and procedures for the Public Works Department and contractors.
You will maintain a mishap log and submit monthly, quarterly and annual reports including all lost time accidents, the number of first aid mishaps and near miss accidents.
