Position: Project Engineer (Construction)

Responsible for project engineering and coordination across assigned projects (new construction, renovation, upgrade, tenant improvement, or service scope), supporting internal teams, vendors, subcontractors, contractors, and customers to deliver strong customer satisfaction and financial results.

Essential Functions
  • Support the PM to deliver projects on schedule by coordinating scope/contract review, turnover, procurement, billing, subcontracting, installation, programming, and check-out; serve as a point of contact for customers and contractors and elevate technical issues as needed.
  • Maintain project documentation—control drawings, sequences of operation, pointslists, RFIs, submittals, procurement and quality logs, field markups, As‑Builts—within digital PM systems (e.g., Procore); manage document control, cost coding, budget tracking, and reporting.
  • Track design revisions, RFIs, submittal responses, and scope changes affecting cost, schedule, or sequencing; work with engineers on drawings, equipment schedules, submittals, programs, and graphics.
  • Review plans and specs to support takeoffs (including points counts), scope reviews, and cost evaluations; support procurement of controls hardware including requisitions, vendor coordination, and post‑award pricing.
  • Assist PMs with subcontractor/vendor buy‑out, solicitations, job walks, and proposal reviews with Estimating; review proposals and contract documents for completeness and constructability.
  • Lead preconstruction‑to‑construction transition (setup, scope clarification, mobilization readiness); support constructability reviews, integration approach, logistics, risk identification, and schedule updates.
  • Support subcontracting and change management—contract/change order negotiation, cost estimates and proposals, and timely billing.
  • Coordinate check‑out, start‑up, commissioning (including third‑party support), and closeout (punch lists, O&M manuals, As‑Builts, service turnover).
  • Own safety requirements on assigned projects; mentor junior team members, complete assigned training, and support a performance‑based, accountable culture; submit accurate weekly timecards by 9 am Monday.
Qualifications
  • Equivalent experience of 5+ years in addition to vocational school, or a bachelor's degree in engineering, computer technology, or similar field with 2+ years of experience preferred.
  • General understanding of building construction methods, HVAC, electrical, and mechanical systems.
  • Experience with construction project documentation and controls workflows—RFIs, submittals, procurement logs, takeoffs, buy‑out, and digital PM systems (e.g., Procore).
  • Ability to read and interpret technical documentation including sequence of operation, product literature, programming manuals, and specifications.
  • Able to execute Building Automation /HVAC Controls integration projects with high contract and project complexity.
  • Excellent written/verbal communication and interpersonal skills; high‑quality document and report preparation.
  • Strong leadership competencies: high ethical standards, integrity, drive for results, diplomatic problem solving, team building, and action orientation.
  • Committed, calm, and professional at all times.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project, and Visio.
Physical Activities

Regularly required to stand, talk, hear, walk, and use hands and arms to handle, reach, push, pull, bend, and twist. Occasionally sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl through narrow, enclosed, or elevated spaces; move up and down stairs; regularly use and climb ladders. Visually inspect equipment and read small print including wiring diagrams and schematics. Regularly lift/move up to 25 pounds, occasionally more than 50 pounds.

Working

Conditions

Frequently exposed to varying temperatures, slippery/wet areas, mechanical moving parts, electrical equipment, and pressurized systems. Work indoors for extended periods; work overnight, weekends, and rotating/varying shifts. This is an on‑site position (job site or Albireo office) and is not eligible for remote or hybrid work.

Pay Rate

$40‑$45/hr doe.
