Traveling Paving Superintendent
We are seeking a Traveling AC Paving Superintendent who oversees paving operations across California. The ideal candidate will have 5+ years of experience in AC paving with experience working CALTRANS projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee daily asphalt paving activities and provide leadership to field crews and equipment operators.
- Plan and coordinate paving schedules, trucking operations, and equipment allocation to maximize efficiency.
- Ensure all work is completed in accordance with project plans, specifications, and quality requirements.
- Monitor paving operations, including asphalt placement, compaction, elevation, and surface tolerances.
- Promote a strong safety culture by enforcing company policies and OSHA regulations.
- Collaborate with project managers, estimators, inspectors, subcontractors, and suppliers to support project success.
- Review construction documents, project specifications, and production goals with field teams.
- Manage workforce productivity, crew assignments, and resource utilization.
- Resolve field challenges related to paving operations, grading, materials, equipment, and traffic control.
- Maintain accurate records of production quantities, daily progress, delays, and job-site activities.
- Monitor equipment performance and coordinate preventive maintenance and repair needs.
- Ensure traffic control measures and public safety standards are consistently followed.
- Support the training, mentoring, and development of operators and labor personnel.
- Maintain professional communication with clients, municipalities, regulatory agencies, and inspectors.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in asphalt paving, roadway construction, or related heavy civil construction.
- Previous experience in a Superintendent, Foreman, or supervisory role preferred.
- Thorough understanding of asphalt paving operations, compaction techniques, and roadway construction practices.
- Working knowledge of OSHA regulations and construction safety best practices.
- Proven experience leading paving crews, equipment operators, and subcontractors.
- Valid driver's license required; CDL is a plus.
