About the Role:
The Leadman in the construction industry plays a critical role in overseeing and coordinating daily operations on construction sites to ensure projects are completed safely, on time, and within budget. This position serves as the primary point of contact between management and the workforce, facilitating clear communication and efficient workflow. The Leadman is responsible for supervising crews, assigning tasks, and monitoring progress while maintaining high standards of quality and safety compliance.
They also assist in planning resource allocation, troubleshooting on-site issues, and supporting training and development of team members. Ultimately, the Leadman ensures that construction activities align with project specifications and company policies, contributing to the successful delivery of construction projects across the United States.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in construction with at least 1 year in a supervisory or lead role.
- Strong knowledge of construction processes, safety regulations, and equipment operation.
- Ability to read and interpret construction plans and specifications.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certification in construction safety (e.g., OSHA 30-hour).
- Experience with project management software and digital communication tools.
- Additional training or certification in leadership or crew management.
- Familiarity with local building codes and permitting processes.
- First aid and CPR certification.
Responsibilities:
- Supervise and coordinate daily activities of construction crews to meet project deadlines and quality standards.
- Assign tasks and provide clear instructions to team members, ensuring efficient use of labor and materials.
- Monitor work progress and safety compliance, conducting regular site inspections and addressing any hazards promptly.
- Collaborate with project managers, subcontractors, and other stakeholders to resolve issues and optimize workflow.
- Support training and mentoring of crew members to enhance skills and promote a culture of safety and professionalism.
Skills:
The Leadman utilizes strong leadership and communication skills daily to effectively manage and motivate construction crews, ensuring tasks are clearly understood and executed efficiently. Technical skills in reading blueprints and understanding construction methodologies enable accurate task assignments and quality control. Safety awareness and problem-solving abilities are critical for identifying potential hazards and implementing corrective actions promptly. Organizational skills help in coordinating resources, scheduling work, and maintaining documentation to support project progress.
Preferred skills such as proficiency with project management software enhance communication and streamline reporting, while certifications in safety and leadership contribute to fostering a secure and productive work environment.
