The Program Director, Uniendo provides artistic and curricular leadership for Mosaic Theatricals’ intergenerational theatre initiative serving seniors and youth in North County San Diego. This part-time, 10-month role is responsible for designing and leading theatre-based workshops, recruiting and cultivating senior cohorts, and guiding the development of community-generated stories into cohesive theatrical storytelling pieces. Working closely with the Camp ¡Exprésate! Program Director, Education Program Specialist, and Artistic Director, the Program Director shapes curriculum, supports teaching artists, collaborates with partner organizations, and contributes to program evaluation and grant reporting.

This role centers artistic excellence, inclusive practice, and meaningful intergenerational exchange.

Position Overview

Mosaic Theatricals seeks an artistic and educational leader to serve as Program Director for Uniendo, our intergenerational theatre and storytelling initiative serving seniors and youth in North County San Diego.

Uniendo bridges generations through storytelling, movement, devised theatre, and cultural exchange with the overarching goal of reducing social isolation among senior populations. The program begins with intentional senior cohort development, integrates youth participants through Camp ¡Exprésate!, and culminates in the creation of theatrical storytelling pieces rooted in lived experience.

The Program Director will lead curriculum development, instructional strategy, artistic facilitation, and story development processes. This role includes guiding workshops that generate original material and collaborating with playwrights or devising artists to shape participant stories into structured theatrical presentations.

Administrative logistics are supported by Mosaic's Education Program Specialist. This role centers on artistic leadership, program design, community partnership, and evaluation alignment within a collaborative ecosystem.

This is a part-time, 10-month contract position structured at approximately 20 hours per week.

Core Responsibilities Artistic & Curricular Leadership
  • Lead the design and evolution of Uniendo's curriculum and instructional framework
  • Develop theatre-based programming tailored to seniors and intergenerational cohorts
  • Adapt curriculum for accessibility, including varied mobility, cognitive, and communication needs
  • Supervise and mentor teaching artists in facilitation and instructional approach
  • Lead and/or co-facilitate workshops and culminating sharings
  • Ensure alignment with Mosaic’s artistic standards and mission
Devised Theatre & Story Development
  • Guide participants through story generation and narrative exploration processes
  • Collaborate with playwright(s) or devising artists to translate workshop outputs into cohesive theatrical storytelling pieces
  • Help shape structure, tone, and presentation of community-based stories
  • Support ethical storytelling practices rooted in consent and respect
  • Contribute to the artistic integrity of any public-facing performance outcomes
Program Development & Intergenerational Integration
  • Actively cultivate senior participant cohorts through partnerships with senior centers, housing communities, and social service organizations
