Customer Service Rep, Bilingual
This position reports to the Director of Guest Services. The museum information desk job involves being the first point of contact for guests, providing information on exhibitions and events, processing admissions and memberships, and ensuring a positive and safe experience for guests. Key duties include greeting guests, working the virtual reality experience, answering questions, operating the point-of-sale system for ticket sales, maintaining the cleanliness of the front desk area, operating the virtual reality experience, and promoting museum programs.
Strong customer service, excellent communication, and strong organizational skills are essential for success in this role
- Greet guests, answer questions about exhibits and facilities, provide directions, and inform them about ongoing activities and events.
- Greet guests and provide a brief overview of the virtual reality experience. Assist guests with donning VR headset and equipment, provide safety instructions, and troubleshoot the system.
- Process admissions, memberships, and gift shop purchases using a point-of-sale (POS) system. Handle cash and credit transactions accurately and balance sales.
- Be knowledgeable about current and upcoming exhibitions and events to provide accurate information and suggestions to visitors.
- Deliver enthusiastic, friendly, and professional service to ensure a positive visitor experience.
- Maintain a safe environment by enforcing museum rules and reporting any safety concerns or irregularities to the appropriate staff.
- Perform basic data entry and reporting tasks as requested by supervisors.
Skills and Qualifications
- Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills are crucial for engaging with a diverse range of visitors.
- Strong verbal communication skills are necessary to answer questions clearly and provide a warm welcome.
- Ability to operate POS systems, basic computer skills, and familiarity with Microsoft Office are often required.
- Strong organizational and time management skills are needed to handle multiple tasks efficiently.
- Punctuality, accuracy, and dependability are essential for maintaining smooth operations.
This is a non-exempt part-time position and is currently expected to vary between 1-20 hours per week, with a pay rate of $20 per hour, with the possibility of increased hours in the future.
