Founding Veterinarian

I’m working on behalf of a brand-new, premium small animal hospital launching in Downtown San Diego’s Marina District. This is a rare opportunity for an experienced veterinarian to step into a true founding leadership position, combining clinical excellence with genuine ownership and long-term wealth creation.

This purpose-built, boutique-style hospital has been designed with no expense spared. The facility features five spacious exam rooms, a dedicated surgical suite, a separate dental suite, and in-house laboratory capabilities., all carefully selected to support efficient workflows and gold-standard medicine. The environment has been intentionally curated to deliver a concierge-level client experience while ensuring the medical team has access to modern tools and thoughtfully designed clinical space.

As the Founding Partner & Lead Veterinarian, you won’t simply be joining a team, you’ll be building one. With the backing of an established and well-resourced hospital network, you’ll lead recruitment, establish clinical standards, mentor associates, and shape the culture from day one. You’ll work closely with an experienced Hospital Manager to drive both medical quality and financial performance, blending high-level medicine with strategic business leadership.

This role is ideally suited to a veterinarian with 4+ years of experience who enjoys surgery and dentistry, thrives in a collaborative environment, and is ready to take the next step into practice ownership… without the risk of doing it alone.

About you:

• DVM or equivalent degree that allows you to practice veterinary medicine in the US
• You hold (or are eligible for) a licensure in California
• 4+ years of clinical experience with confidence in general surgery and dentistry
• A collaborative leadership style with a passion for mentoring others
• Entrepreneurial mindset with interest in business performance and practice growth
• Competitive base salary of $180,000–$200,000

• CE allowance plus professional dues and license coverage
• Support from an experienced operations and leadership team
