We are seeking an experienced Intermediate Project Architect to join our San Diego studio
, with a primary focus on Higher Education and Institutional projects
.

• This role is ideally suited for an architect with 10+ years of professional experience who has a strong background supporting university, academic, research, civic, or comparable institutional environments.
• You will play a key role on a major higher education project in San Diego, working closely with project leadership, consultants, clients, and internal teams to help guide technical delivery, documentation, coordination, permitting, and construction administration.

• Support and lead architectural delivery across Higher Education, Institutional, Civic, Academic, and related project types
• Work on complex university and campus-based projects from design development through construction administration
• Lead project documentation and coordination within Revit-based BIM environments
• Prepare, review, and coordinate architectural drawings, details, specifications, and construction document packages
• Coordinate closely with structural, MEP, civil, landscape, specialty consultants, and other project stakeholders
• Maintain alignment between design intent, technical requirements, constructability, and institutional standards
• Support permitting, agency review, and campus or owner approval processes
• Ensure documentation complies with applicable building codes, accessibility requirements, and jurisdictional standards
• Participate in client meetings, consultant meetings, internal coordination sessions, and project reviews
• Review RFIs, submittals, shop drawings, and other construction-phase documentation
• Assist with field observations, punch walks, and resolution of construction-related issues
• Support project schedules, milestones, deliverables, and team coordination
• Perform QA/QC reviews of architectural documentation
• Mentor Job Captains, Designers, and junior architectural staff
• Collaborate closely with Project Managers, Senior Project Architects, and studio leadership to ensure successful project execution

• 10+ years of professional experience in architecture required
• Architectural licensure is mandatory (CA / NCARB)
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Architecture from an accredited program
• Strong background in Higher Education, University, Academic, Institutional, Civic, or comparable complex project environments
• Relevant project experience supporting large university or campus-based projects strongly preferred
• Experience with UC, CSU, public university, research, academic, or similarly regulated institutional projects is highly desirable
• Proven experience leading or supporting projects through design development, construction documentation, permitting, and construction administration
• Advanced Revit proficiency required
• Strong hands-on experience producing and coordinating complex architectural models and construction document sets
• Strong understanding of architectural detailing, building systems, materials, and construction methods
• Solid knowledge of building codes, accessibility standards, and permitting requirements
• Strong consultant and multidisciplinary coordination experience
• Experience managing comprehensive construction document packages
• Experience with Bluebeam, Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Office, and related architectural/project management tools
• Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
• Strong attention to detail and documentation quality
• Ability to work effectively within large, multidisciplinary project teams
• Experience mentoring or guiding junior architectural staff preferred
• LEED, WELL, or other relevant professional credentials are a plus
