Position descriptionThe Department of Medicine () at University of California, San Diego is committed to academic excellence within the faculty, staff, and student body. The Division of Gastroenterology is actively recruiting clinical gastroenterologists with a focus on management of inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD), along with clinical research in the field of IBD.
The successful candidates will spend the majority of their time EITHER:
- In the clinical care of IBD patients, AND/OR
- As a clinical investigator in outcomes or health services research, or translational research applied clinical informatics
The successful candidates will provide leadership in teaching, research or service towards building an equitable and diverse scholarly environment.
The appropriate series and appointment at the Assistant, Associate or Full Professor level will be based on the candidate’s background and experience.

Basic qualifications (required at time of application)
- Candidates must have an MD or equivalent.
- Candidates must be Board certified or Board eligible in Gastroenterology.
- Candidates must have or be eligible for a California medical license or equivalent certification/permit as determined by the Medical Board of California.
- Candidates must have completed or be currently pursuing an advanced fellowship training in IBD and/or Gastroenterology.
