Position DescriptionThe University of California, San Diego (UC San Diego) Department of Surgery, Division of Colon and Rectal Surgery (), is committed to academic excellence among its faculty, staff, and student body. The Division is seeking to recruit academic colon and rectal surgeons who are committed to excellence in clinical care, education, and scholarly activity.
Selected candidates will provide comprehensive clinical care, teach and mentor medical students, residents, and fellows, and develop a research portfolio that aligns with divisional and institutional priorities.
These positions require flexibility to practice across UC San Diego Health clinical sites and to participate in call coverage in accordance with divisional and departmental responsibilities.
The appropriate series and appointment at the Assistant, Associate or Full Professor level will be based on the candidate’s background and experience.

Appointments may require candidates to be self-funded.
Qualifications Basic Qualifications- MD or equivalent degree.
- Board certified in General Surgery.
- Currently enrolled in or have completed an ACGME-accredited colorectal fellowship training program.
- California medical license or equivalent certification (or eligibility for one).
- Robotic and endoscopic training.
- Demonstrated excellence in teaching and mentorship of trainees.
- Established or emerging academic research program.
