Title: Pilot Summer Academy Camp Counselor

Reports To: Pilot Summer Academy Camp Director

Job Classification: Seasonal, Non-Exempt

Term: June 11 to July 17 - Approximately 40 hours/week.

Position Overview

The camp counselor is a seasonal, on-site position responsible for leading and supervising campers in daily activities, ensuring their safety, engagement, and overall positive camp experience. This role works collaboratively with other counselors, program leaders, and the Camp Director, and serves as a vital partner in supporting the camp’s mission to provide a fun, inclusive, and enriching environment for all camp participants.

Responsibilities
  • Supervise and ensure the safety and well-being of all campers throughout the day
  • Lead, engage, and participate in daily activities, games, and lessons
  • Serve as a positive role model by demonstrating leadership, respect, and teamwork
  • Support campers in building friendships, confidence, and positive behavior
  • Assist with arrival, dismissal, transitions, and movement between activities
  • Communicate clearly and respectfully with campers, staff, and families
  • Help set up, clean up, and maintain organized camp spaces and materials
  • Address minor behavioral concerns and follow camp procedures when support is needed
  • Collaborate with other counselors and staff to create a fun, inclusive camp environment
  • Attend all required training sessions and staff meetings
Required Documents & Pre-Employment Requirements:

Applicants must submit a cover letter, resume, and two professional references from current or former supervisors. Candidates must also provide official transcripts, a current negative TB test result or TB Risk Assessment Questionnaire, complete required training, and successfully complete Livescan fingerprinting. Employment is contingent upon obtaining fingerprint clearance from the California Department of Justice (DOJ) and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).
