College Writing Program Lecturers (Part-Time/AY)

Lecturer (part‑time/annual). Salary range: $70,977‑$107,361 (see UC pay scale for detailed ranges). Application Window:

Lecturers design, deliver, and assess writing instruction across UC San Diego’s eight undergraduate colleges. Responsibilities include teaching seminar‑style and large‑lecture courses, evaluating student written work, and supporting teaching assistants. Successful candidates are eligible for continuing status after 18 successful teaching quarters.
Teaching in the CollegesLecturers may be assigned to one of the following colleges, each offering a distinct curriculum:
- Eighth College – Focus on community engagement and addressing structural racism.
- Sixth College (CAT) – Interdisciplinary exploration of art, technology, and culture; upper‑division courses in public communication and experiential learning.
- Seventh College (Synthesis Programs) – Equity‑minded curriculum addressing climate crisis and broader ecological concerns.
- Warren College – Writing aligned with problem‑based pedagogy that emphasizes self‑reflection and community equity.
- Eleanor Roosevelt College (MMW) – Interdisciplinary world‑history program grounded in academic research and writing.
- Thurgood Marshall College (DOC) – Critical reading and writing focused on U.S. cultural history and social justice.
- Revelle College (Humanities) – Core text and writing program offering lower‑division sequence (HUM 1‑5) and upper‑division seminar (HUM 100).
- MS or MA degree (or expected graduation by May 2026) in Composition, Rhetoric, Writing Studies, English, Literature, History, Ethnic Studies, or a related field aligned with the writing program’s curriculum.
- At least one year of teaching experience.
- MS or MA in any field.
- Academic year starts July 1, 2026.
- PhD, MFA, or other terminal degree.
- Experience using a learning management system.

- Statement of Teaching.
- Syllabi – optional at interview.
- Teaching evaluations – optional at interview.
