JOB SUMMARY: Under general supervision, provides quality care to children in a safe, healthy, and nurturing environment. Within the program's daily schedule, it ensures each child has the opportunity to create, explore, and learn problem solving and critical thinking skills through self‑initiated and teacher‑directed activities.
Responsibilities Include- Together with the Director, planning and implementing developmentally appropriate experiences for children.
- Continuously following all state licensing regulations and maintaining classroom standards.
- Participating in on‑going staff training and professional development.
- Developing mutually trusting relationships with families through daily communication and bi‑annual parent‑teacher conferences.
- On‑going observing and assessing individual children and their needs.
- Provide tools and resources for children to use and explore during learning and play activities.
- Adapt teaching methods and materials to meet the interests and learning styles of children.
- Develop and maintain positive relationships with children and parents.
- Manage classroom activities including lessons, play, breaks and meals.
- Track children’s progress and report to parents.
- Maintain a clean and tidy classroom.
- Help children reach developmental milestones.
- Collaborate with others to implement lesson plans.
- Encourage children to interact with each other to develop social skills.
- Provide appropriate supervision for children at all times.
- Maintain an inventory system for classroom materials and supplies.
- Facilitate various activities for children including songs, games and storytelling.
- Adhere to health/safety and sanitation procedures.
- Other duties as assigned
- Experience:
Reggio experience is preferred but not necessary. - Prospective candidates should be: warm, nurturing, flexible, collaborative, reflective, inviting, self‑motivated, even‑tempered, and adaptable. Candidates must also be well‑versed in redirecting children’s behavior in a developmentally appropriate manner.
- Communication
Skills:
Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills. - Must have or be willing to obtain a current TB test.
- Criminal Justice Background Check/ Live Scan Fingerprint Clearance.
- Must have current or be willing to obtain first aid and CPR certification.
Salary:
The anticipated salary range for this position is $21-$25 per hour, depending on qualifications and experience.
