The Program and Operations Coordinator for the Monarch Unity Resource Center (MURC) supports the Center’s mission to advance outreach, academic success, leadership development, inclusion, and retention efforts for undocumented and mixed immigration status students at San Diego State University. Working in collaboration with the Director and Associate Director, this position plays a key role in coordinating operations, implementing programs, and providing direct student support to enhance the overall student experience.
The Coordinator supports the day-to-day operations of the Monarch Unity Resource Center, including space management, scheduling, supervision of student assistants, website and communications maintenance, and maintaining Center calendars and digital platforms. The position also researches, develops, coordinates, and evaluates programs and services that meet the academic, social, wellness, and identity-based needs of undocumented students.
In addition, the Coordinator plans and implements educational and social justice programming, manages program budgets and event documentation processes, tracks event participation and assessment outcomes, and collaborates with campus and community partners to promote cultural heritage, multicultural, and interfaith initiatives. The position provides academic planning support to students, participates in hiring and training student staff, facilitates workshops and trainings, and serves as a campus resource on issues impacting undocumented students.
This role represents the Monarch Unity Resource Center and the Division of Student Affairs and Campus Diversity in campus partnerships and external engagements, promotes undocumented student excellence, and responds to sensitive equity and crisis-related matters with professionalism and discretion.
Key Responsibilities- Coordinate the day-to-day operations of the Monarch Unity Resource Center, including space management, scheduling, student assistant supervision, website and communications maintenance, and calendar oversight.
- Develop, implement, and assess educational, academic success, wellness, social justice, and identity-based programming that supports undocumented and mixed immigration status students.
- Manage program planning processes, including budget tracking, event documentation (quotes, waivers, lecturer forms), attendance tracking, and assessment of learning outcomes.
- Provide mentorship to students while participating in the hiring, onboarding, training, and supervision of graduate and undergraduate student staff.
- Collaborate with campus and community partners to coordinate multicultural programs, cultural heritage events, and outreach initiatives that advance inclusion, belonging, and student success.
- Make a meaningful impact supporting undocumented and mixed-status students in their academic and personal success.

- This is a full-time (1.0 time-base), benefits eligible, permanent/probationary position.
- This position is designated as exempt under FLSA and is not eligible for overtime compensation.
- Standard SDSU work hours are Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., but may vary based on operational needs.
- Willingness to work irregular hours, including evenings and weekends, with advance notice.
- The individual hired into this role will work on campus at SDSU in San Diego.
