Applications are accepted for the three college campuses (City, Mesa, Miramar) and various continuing education centers on a continuous basis. Qualified candidates will be added to the adjunct pool for potential assignments in the fall, spring, and/or summer semesters. Applications are purged approximately one year from submittal, after which an automated notice will be sent to re‑apply if desired.

Part‑time/temporary faculty positions offer flexible hours and may include day, evening, weekend, and/or off‑campus classes. Candidates must live within commuting distance of San Diego.

• Provide instruction in accordance with established curriculum and course outlines for Cosmetology, Esthetics, Nail Technician, and Barber cross‑over courses.
• Teach both lecture and lab classes as determined by the department.
• Be available to students outside of class and maintain an accessible presence.
• Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge in subject areas and adhere to professional standards of conduct and ethics.
• Maintain accurate records and comply with all departmental policies.
• Create a learning environment that encourages free discussion and supports student success.

• Any bachelor’s degree and at least two (2) years of professional experience directly related to the area of assignment, or
• Any associate degree and at least six (6) years of professional experience directly related to the area of assignment, or
• Equivalent education/experience as determined by the district.
• Demonstrated cultural competency and sensitivity to diverse academic, socioeconomic, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students and staff.

• License in Cosmetology or Esthetics.
• California Community College Instructor Credential in Cosmetology & Barbering (valid for life).

• California Community College Instructor Credential in Cosmetology & Barbering (valid for life).

The salary for this position is based on the Adjunct College Salary Schedule. Proper placement will be contingent upon receipt of official transcripts and, if applicable, foreign degree evaluations. Initial salary placement will be at the first class/step until official transcripts have been submitted.

• Submit official college transcripts.
• Provide a Certificate of Tuberculosis Exam (renewed every four years).
• Have fingerprints taken by a Live Scan computer at the district’s expense and obtain clearance prior to first day of employment.
• Present original documents proving eligibility to work in the United States.
