The San Diego Community College District accepts applications for adjunct (part‑time/substitute) positions on a continuous basis. Although this posting does not indicate immediate openings, qualified applicants will be added to the pool for possible assignments in the fall, spring, and/or summer semesters. Hiring departments will contact qualified candidates when a position becomes available. Applications are purged approximately one year from submission.

Assignments may include a combination of day, evening, weekend, and/or off‑campus classes. Applicants should live within commuting distance to San Diego. These part‑time positions offer flexible hours and the opportunity to assist a diverse group of adult students.

• Teach all scheduled classes in accordance with established curriculum and course outlines.
• Assist students outside of class and be available for office hours.
• Maintain accurate records and complete necessary documentation.
• Maintain current knowledge in the subject matter areas.
• Provide quality instruction, create an inclusive learning environment, and encourage free discussion of ideas.
• Fulfill professional responsibilities of a part‑time/temporary faculty member.

• Degrees from regionally accredited institutions.
• Bachelor's degree and at least two (2) years of professional experience directly related to the area of assignment, OR
• Associate degree and at least six (6) years of professional experience directly related to the area of assignment, OR
• The equivalent experience.
• Demonstrated cultural competency and sensitivity to diverse academic, socioeconomic, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students and staff.

• Completion of the Request for Equivalency Form for candidates without the exact degrees listed.
• Foreign degree holders must have coursework evaluated by a professional evaluation organization.

• Submit official college transcripts.
• Provide a Certificate of Tuberculosis Exam (renewed every four years).
• Participate in a Live Scan for fingerprints prior to first employment day.
• Present original documents proving eligibility to work in the United States.
• Demonstrate cultural competency and sensitivity to diverse backgrounds of students, faculty, and staff.
