Position: College of Engineering College Care Specialist (Administrative Analyst/Specialist, Exempt I)
The College of Engineering is one (1) of the seven (7) major institutional units of San Diego State University. The primary objective of the College is to prepare students for a professional career in Engineering. The College's Fall 2023 full-time faculty numbered 75 including the Dean. The number of part time faculty varies from semester to semester. There are an additional 36 full-time staff that support College operations.

The Dean's Office in the College of Engineering is responsible for all administrative and managerial functions of the College, which include overseeing the operations of the College's four (4) departments, which have a total of (8) academic programs, coordinating work of the College's committees, managing budgetary and financial matters, providing faculty and staff support, working with other University departments to integrate College of Engineering functions, providing student services, supporting the College's outreach and research efforts, and managing the development activities for the benefit of the College and its students.

The Dean's Office administers these programs with four (4) administrators and a student services professional: the Dean, Associate Dean for Graduate Studies & Research, Associate Dean for Undergraduate Studies, Assistant Dean of Student Affairs, and Director of the MESA Engineering Program. ln addition, the Dean's Office has a staff of (7) which includes an Assistant to the Dean, two (2) Administrative Analyst Specialists, an Administrative Coordinator, a Student Affairs Coordinator, Center for Student Success in Engineering Coordinator, and an Internship Coordinator.

There are also three (3) Information Technology support personnel: an Operating Systems Analyst and two (2) Information Technology Consultants.

Education and Experience

Entry to this classification requires general knowledge and skills in the applicable administrative and/or program field with a foundational knowledge of public administration principles, practices, and methods. This foundation would normally be obtained through a bachelor's degree and/or equivalent training and administrative work experience involving study, analysis, and/or evaluation leading to the development or improvement of administrative policies, procedures, practices, or programs.

Key Qualifications

* Demonstrated procurement experience, including the ability to interpret and apply policies, procedures, and best practices.

* Proven ability to track, categorize, summarize, and report on procurement and financial activities, including startup and general procurement expenditures.

* Significant experience in customer, stakeholder, and/or employee engagement.

* Demonstrated ability to lead and guide a small team in delivering aligned, streamlined, and service-oriented outcomes that support faculty and operational success.

* Ability to maintain a positive, professional, and composed demeanor when navigating complex or sensitive conversations and written communications.

* Experience working within a university, college, or public agency environment.

* Background in a customer service role managing both internal and external inquiries.

Compensation:

Step placement will be determined based on relevant qualifications and professional experience, in alignment with the department's budget and equity guidelines.

* Initial step placement is not expected to exceed Step 1 ($5,274/month).

* Salary step placement for internal applicants will follow the CSUEU Collective Bargaining Agreement.

* CSU Classification Salary Range: $5,274-$7,684 per month (Step 1-Step 20).

* Future increases, including step advancements, are subject to contract negotiations.
