Academic, part-time/temporary faculty. FLSA status:
Non-Exempt (accrues overtime).

Part‑time or temporary faculty positions are offered on a flexible schedule and may include day, evening, weekend, or off‑campus classes. Applicants should live within commuting distance to San Diego and be willing to travel to any of the district’s campuses (City, Mesa, Miramar) and continuing education centers.

Salary placement is contingent upon receipt of official (sealed) transcripts or foreign degree evaluations. Instructors with advanced coursework will be placed on the appropriate class and step of the Adjunct College Salary Schedules effective the first month following transcript receipt. Initial placement is at the first class/step until official transcripts are submitted.
Responsibilities- Provide instruction in accordance with established curriculum and course outlines.
- Maintain current knowledge in the subject matter areas.
- Serve as a resource for students outside of class, including availability for office hours and inquiries.
- Maintain accurate records of attendance, grades, and other required documentation.
- Teach all scheduled classes with quality instruction, creating an environment that encourages engagement and discussion.
- Participate in departmental committees and outreach activities as required.
- Fulfill all professional responsibilities of a part‑time or temporary faculty member.
- Degree from a regionally accredited institution.
- Bachelor's degree and at least two (2) years of occupational experience related to the subject of the course taught; or
- Associate degree and at least six (6) years of occupational experience related to the subject of the course taught; or
- Prior-equivalent experience that meets the same criteria.
- Demonstrated cultural competency and sensitivity to the diverse academic, socioeconomic, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of students and staff.
- Ability to integrate geology, sustainability, and anthropology into courses.
- Knowledge of ArcGIS software and/or Python.
- California Community College Instructor Credential in Earth Sciences, including Geography, Geology, and Geophysics (valid for life).
- California Community College Instructor Credential in Earth Sciences, including Geography, Geology, and Geophysics (valid for life).
- Submit official college transcripts.
- Provide a Certificate of Tuberculosis Exam, renewed every four years.
- Undergo a Live Scan fingerprinting; clearance must be received prior to the first day of employment.
- Present original documents proving eligibility to work in the United States.
- Complete the Request for Equivalency Form if the exact degree requirements are not met, and submit an evaluation of foreign credentials if applicable.
