Position overview Position title: Infectious Diseases Translational Researcher Salary range: The posted UC Salary scales set the minimum pay at the appointment as determined by appointment type and if applicable, rank and/or step. The base pay range for this position is $129,250 - $218,000. Salary is negotiated annually. Additional compensation may be available if the position includes membership in the Health Sciences Compensation Plan.

The Division of Infectious Diseases and Global Public Health () in the Department of Medicine at the University of California, San Diego, is committed to academic excellence within the faculty, staff, and student body and is currently recruiting outstanding faculty for a tenured position.
The successful candidate will facilitate clinical, translational, and/or basic research in the area of virology. The candidate will provide lectures in the w lecture series, patient-based teaching in the clinic and hospital, mentoring junior faculty, postdocs, fellows, residents, and medical students, and/or provide clinical care to patients.
The appointment at the Associate or Full Professor level will be based on the candidate's background and experience. Series will include 50% Ladder Rank / 50% In-Residence with secured extramural funding or 100% Ladder Rank.

Qualifications Basic qualifications (required at time of application)Candidates must have an MD or equivalent, PhD, or MD/PhD in the area of Infectious Diseases or a related field.
Candidates must also have an independent extramurally-funded research program (NIH R01 or similar).
Candidates with clinical care duties must have an MD or equivalent and be board-certified or board-eligible in Infectious Diseases.
Candidates with an MD or equivalent must have or be eligible for a California medical license or equivalent certification/permit as determined by the Medical Board of California.
Preferred qualificationsCandidates with 5+ years of experience as a faculty advisor or educator for medical students, residents, fellows, graduate students, and/or post-graduate trainees are preferred.
Candidates with 5+ years of experience working with diverse groups of students, populations, faculty, etc., are preferred.
