Salary range: A reasonable salary range estimate for this position is $119,300-$139,100. Base salary range, from the salary table(s), for this position is $80,800-$104,700. Off‑scale salaries may be offered to meet competitive conditions.

Position DescriptionThe University of California, San Diego invites applications for a tenure‑track faculty position at the Scripps Institution of Oceanography (SIO). This position will be filled at the Assistant Professor level. We seek a motivated, broad‑thinking scientist and educator to establish a vigorous research program and provide intellectual leadership in their field while complementing existing expertise at SIO and other UC San Diego departments.
Desired candidates have a history of innovative research in natural products chemistry, chemical ecology, metabolomics or other “omic” sciences, pharmacology, biotechnology, chemical and synthetic biology, or related fields. The successful candidate will develop a strong, marine‑focused extramurally supported research program that integrates with and elevates existing marine natural products research at SIO and the Center for Marine Biotechnology and Biomedicine (CMBB).
The candidate will also demonstrate a commitment to teaching excellence at the undergraduate and/or graduate levels, develop related courses, and train the next generation of researchers.
PhD or equivalent degree in biological, chemical, physical, or ocean sciences, or a relevant field, is required at the time of application.
