Position Overview
The Special Education Teacher (Learning Specialist) provides support to students in grades 6–12 under the direction of the Special Education Program Administrator. This educator delivers specialized instruction, supports academic and behavioral needs, collaborates with general education staff, and helps implement individualized programs to ensure student success.
Location: La Jolla, CA
Start Date: March 9th, 2026
Duration: 3 months
Schedule: Monday–Friday
Hours: 8:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m. (approx. 30 hours/week based on student contact time)
Pay Rate: $50–$55/hour (local)

Learning Specialist – Special Education Teacher - Serving 6th–12th grade students
- Amergisum caseload: 23 students
- Provides academic, organizational, and behavioral support
- Collaborates closely with general education teachers and SPED teams
- Virtual interview required
- Deliver specialized instruction to middle and high school students
- Support academic interventions, skill development, and IEP implementation
- Provide small‑group and individualized instruction
- Monitor student progress and maintain accurate documentation
- Collaborate with teachers, staff, and families to support learning goals
- Assist with tutorial support and general education consultation
- Valid Special Education teaching certification (state-appropriate)
- Bachelor’s degree preferred
- Experience working with middle/high school students preferred
- CPR, TB screening, and health clearance if required
- Must meet all federal, state, and local standards
- Must be at least 18 years old
