Position: Food Service Worker - Outdoor Education (ID 2975)

Job Summary

The San Diego County Office of Education is recruiting for a Food Services Worker for Camp Cuyamaca in the Outdoor Education Department of the Innovations Division. Under general supervision, the Food Services Worker prepares and serves food items to students and/or school staff, as well as maintaining food service facilities in safe and sanitary condition.

As one of SDCOE's educational programs, Cuyamaca Outdoor School offers unrivaled quality and value. Cuyamaca is the only program in San Diego County certified by the California Outdoor School Association as a Residential Outdoor Science School. With a curriculum designed by our credentialed teachers to take full advantage of the Next Generation Science Standards, our lessons incorporate trail experiences and citizen scientist projects to create hands‑on learning that is meaningful, memorable, and fun.

For many students, the weeklong, overnight experience transforms how they feel about science and themselves as learners.

Located in the beautiful, expansive, and unspoiled 25,000-acre Cuyamaca Rancho State Park, SDCOE's Cuyamaca Outdoor School is San Diego County's original 6th Grade Camp. With continuous operation since 1946, Cuyamaca Outdoor School is California's largest and longest-running 6th grade camp, serving more than 11,000 students each year.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare and serve food items to students and/or school staff
  • Maintain food service facilities in a safe and sanitary condition
Requirements / Qualifications

This is an entry-level assignment. There are no experience or education requirements.

Certificates And Licenses
  • Selected candidate must obtain an ANSI approved Food Handler Certification within 10 days of employment. Once employed, Food Services Workers must maintain required food‑handler certification.

The results of this recruitment will be used to establish an eligibility list to fill the current vacancy and any other vacancies in this classification for the next six (6) months, or until the list is exhausted.
